The Firm

About Us

Cumberland Costings was established in 1987 and is a leading and expanding firm of experienced Costs Lawyers and Law Costs Draftsmen who service the legal profession and major institutions nationwide with offices in the South East and Central London. Our reputation is important to us and we are well aware that a reputation takes years to build. We are committed to maintaining, enhancing and monitoring our reputation by generating value for our clients and by acting with professionalism and integrity in all aspects of the costing process.

Our team of Costs Draftsmen are highly trained and skilled in the new and ever changing procedures and fully competent to achieve the best results for our clients. They are completely aware of the pitfalls and time will not be wasted with bills going back and forth through lack of knowledge. As Costs Lawyers we can also take direct instructions from Litigants in Person without the need of instructing Solicitors.

Our mission is to set new standards with our clients and to provide them with innovative, integrated financial solutions in the process of drawing bills and throughout the whole costing process. We strive to create an open, respectful workplace and encourage our team to work together and with clients to deliver a superior service.

Cumberland Costings has a relentless focus on client needs. We truly believe we can only set new standards in partnering with clients if we place them at the centre of everything we do and have a complete understanding of their individual needs and objectives. We believe that nothing short of excellence will suffice.

We are committed to working together as a team and deliver added value to our clients. As a firm we are well positioned to capitalise on our combined strengths and expertise to provide a holistic and seamless service that sets us apart from our peers. Dedication, determination and dialogue are the key to a successful business.

Diversity is our forte as we have draftsmen and costs lawyers who have been fee earners for many years and who have a wealth of experience in dealing with law costs problems involving heavy commercial, intellectual property, judicial reviews, prison law, personal injury, solicitor and own client, housing, legal aid/family/care proceedings, Court of Protection, regulatory enforcement, extradition and POCA as well as expertise in the preparation of costs estimates, costs management, advice on settlement, pre and post assessment process (a particularly time wasting exercise for fee earners) and preparation of Points of Dispute/Reply.

Our firm has been instructed in a number of notable and high profile cases including Hamilton v Al Fayed and others, Bourne v Colodense, Brown & White v Commissioner of Police, Cutts v Head, Johnson v Reed Corrugated Cases, EMI Records v Pandit, Anton Piller KG v Manufacturing Processes and EMI Records v Ian Cameron Wallace to name but a few.
